Swim with whale sharks in Isla Mujeres
Season: June 15 to September 17, subject to the official season, the corresponding permits and weather conditions.
Enjoy a unique experience snorkeling alongside the whale shark, the largest fish in the world, in the waters of the Mexican Caribbean. Watch these impressive animals in their natural environment and feel the thrill of swimming near them in the open sea, always following conservation and safety rules.
During the season you may also see whale sharks and other marine species in the waters near Isla Mujeres and Holbox.
How the day goes
We pick you up at your hotel in Cancún or the Riviera Maya and start the adventure with a continental breakfast before boarding a speedboat to the sighting area.
The ride takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on sea conditions and where the animals are.
Once there, we spend about 3 hours looking for and watching whale sharks. If conditions allow, and following your guide’s instructions, you’ll get in the water to snorkel and see them up close in their natural habitat.
Afterwards, we enjoy some snorkeling on a coral reef near Playa Norte, on Isla Mujeres, before lunch and the trip back.
Approximate return times:
